Trouble Logging In?
We are sorry you are having trouble logging in. We hope that these frequently asked questions--and answers--will help to solve your problem. Remember that you only need to enter your username and password OR your subscription number. Both are not required.
1) I was never told I had a username and password. Why are you asking for one now? All subscribers who did not pick a username and password have been pre-assigned them. If you do not know it, you can simply login with the subscription number that appears on the address splat of your magazine. After logging in, you can change your pre-assigned username and password (both are 7-digit numbers) to something more memorable by clicking on "Update Profile" on your member home page.
2) I type in my subscription number but a message appears saying the number is "incorrect." What's wrong? Your subscription number is the 16-digit code that appears immediately above your name on the magazine address splat. Do not enter the "#" signs. And do not enter the code that appears on the very top of your address splat--that is the not your subscription number. Also make sure that you do not confuse the letter O with the number 0, and vice versa.
3) I type in my username and password but nothing happens--the page just appears again with no information in the login fields. First, make sure that the system has not logged you in already by looking for your name in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. If your username appears, then you are already logged in. If it still says, "login/register," then you may have cookies blocked by your browser. Our site now requires cookies. For more on how to enable cookies, visit http://www.google.com/cookies.html.
4) I subscribed to the Web site or the print edition but I still cannot access all the articles. Can you help? Send a note with your name, username and password to our membership department.
5) I signed up for access to your Web site this summer, but I can no longer view all your articles. What happened? Over the summer we held an open house in which all articles were free online. Those who registered for our open house will continue to have access to a select number of articles from each issue. To receive full access, purchase a web-only subscription for just $12.
6) I tried to register for your site but I was told that my username and/or email are already used by another user. I think that person is me. What's wrong? It sounds like you registered twice with our system. If you are a print subscriber, you were automatically granted access to our new site when we launched in May 2007. Yet you probably also registered for our site, which you did not need to do. Registration is only required of non-subscribers. To delete you registration account email our membership department.
7) I can't remember my username and password. Click on "Forget your Password?" on our login page and enter the email address you registered with. Your username and password will be sent to you automatically.
If you are still unable to login, try again in an hour or two. Sometimes these problems are only temporary. If you are still unable to login, contact our subscription office. Unfortunately, because of the small size of our staff, it may take us a few days to respond to your query.
